Small business AI
Start with one useful workflow, not a pile of tools.
A small business gets more value from AI when it begins with a clear problem, protects important data, tests one low-risk process, and measures whether the change actually helps.
A practical starting plan
- Choose one repeated task. Look for work such as drafting follow-ups, organizing notes, summarizing documents, creating first drafts, or preparing routine reports.
- Map how the task works today. Identify inputs, outputs, who owns the decision, and where mistakes would matter.
- Protect sensitive information. Do not paste passwords, confidential customer data, financial credentials, health information, or restricted company data into unapproved tools.
- Test with low-risk examples. Compare AI-assisted work with your current process before changing anything critical.
- Keep human review. People should remain responsible for money, customer promises, legal commitments, safety, and other high-impact decisions.
- Measure useful results. Look at time saved, quality, consistency, errors, customer experience, and whether the process is easier to manage.
- Scale only what works. A small reliable improvement is more valuable than a complicated automation nobody trusts.
